Eight schools in the Nanango Electorate will be among the first in the State to join the State Government’s new Queensland Virtual Academy program.<\/p>\n

The schools are Kingaroy, Crawford, Tanduringie, Crawford,\u00a0Windera, Woolooga, Moffatdale, Wondai and Mount Kilcoy State schools.<\/p>\n

The Queensland Virtual Academy is a virtual education program which aims to expand opportunities for regional and rural students.<\/p>\n

Students at the schools will be able experience livestreamed specialist subjects from the comfort of their classroom.<\/p>\n

The program removes the limitations faced by regional students whose schools do not offer the specialist subjects which are sometimes required as a prerequisite for their chosen career.<\/p>\n

Specialist mathematics, senior physics, Japanese and senior psychology classes will be available.<\/strong><\/p>\n

STEM enrichment programs will also be offered to students in Years 5-9 with an aptitude for STEM.<\/p>\n

Attorney-General Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said she was pleased that students would be able to study the subjects they wanted, setting themselves up for their desired tertiary path.<\/p>\n

“As someone who attended a small regional school, I know the challenges rural students face,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

“It’s fantastic to see programs like the Queensland Virtual Academy creating new opportunities for these students.<\/p>\n
