Infrastructure for the National Broadband Network will begin to appear in the South Burnett soon after the South Burnett Regional Council approved three NBN sites at its monthly meeting on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The council had received development applications for a telecommunications facility at 163 Bowman Road in Blackbutt; a second facility at 610 Old Esk North Road in South East Nanango; and a third, somewhat larger facility at 14269 D’Aguilar Highway in Nanango (ie the Nanango Golf Course).<\/p>\n

Council was told all three applications were for towers which will be used to support a wireless section of the NBN network in the area between Blackbutt-Benarkin and Nanango.<\/p>\n

Councillors heard the applicants had conducted community information sessions for all three sites and that most of the feedback gathered at those sessions had been positive.<\/p>\n

The council itself had received two submissions from residents during the public notification period about the Old Esk North Road proposal.<\/p>\n

This led to that application being slightly modified to satisfy the issues raised.<\/p>\n

But the council had received no submissions about the other two facilities.<\/p>\n

Cr Barry Green said he understood the Nanango Golf Club was happy to have one of the facilities on its land because it would help bring in some ongoing revenue for the club.<\/p>\n

Councillors approved all three projects unanimously, subject to the usual conditions surrounding these types of developments.<\/p>\n
