Cyclists taking part in the annual Queensland Fire Department Bike 4 Burns charity ride\u00a0 rolled into Kingaroy on Thursday afternoon as part of their seven-day trek to support the Children’s Hospital Foundation.<\/p>\n

The cyclists began their journey in Eidsvold on May 13.<\/p>\n

They then headed to Gayndah and Proston before stopping overnight at the Kingaroy Showgrounds.<\/p>\n

They headed off on Friday morning for a night stop at Yarraman and then Toogoolawah and Wulkuraka.<\/p>\n

The ride will finish at the Emergency Services Complex in Kedron on Monday (May 19) after covering more than 500km.<\/p>\n

Many of the riders are current or former firefighters so treating children with burns injuries is close to their hearts.<\/p>\n

Last year, the <\/span>Qu<\/span>eensland Children\u2019s Hospital in Brisbane treated more than <\/span>1740<\/span> children for burns injuries, with more than a third <\/span>requiring surgery for their injuries.<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The money raised on the ride helps the Children’s Hospital Foundation to ensure these children have access to the best possible care and treatment.<\/p>\n

However, the ride also has another purpose … to help promote a healthy lifestyle for emergency services staff.<\/p>\n

The is the 19th year that the Bike 4 Burns charity ride has raised funds for the Foundation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The riders are hoping to raise $60,000 through their efforts this year.<\/p>\n
