Not-for-profit animal charity Karma’s Place Rescue officially opened its new op shop in Kingaroy last Saturday.<\/p>\n

Volunteers manned a sausage sizzle in the car park at 1 Ivins Street while visitors browsed the aisles inside Karma’s Place’s new headquarters for secondhand bargains.<\/p>\n

The group took over the shed in April but no animals are housed on the premises as the Karma’s Place rehoming model relies on foster homes for its cats and dogs.<\/p>\n

Adoptions are done by appointment.<\/p>\n

Treasurer Diane Ayers said the group had been taking in and rehoming animals for nine years.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is totally independent and receives no government funding so relies on the money raised from adoptions and now, from the op shop, to cover vet costs.<\/p>\n

Diane said the group currently had about 100 animals in foster homes in the South Burnett and as far away as the Sunshine Coast.<\/p>\n

Animals awaiting new homes can be viewed on the Karma’s Place website<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Diane said the group was always looking for more foster carers for animals and volunteers for the op shop, which will open Tuesdays to Sundays from 9:00am to 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

Donations\u00a0 to support the group would also be gratefully accepted.<\/p>\n
