May 15, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nanango Race Club has thrown open the gates to racegoers this Saturday to mark the return of thoroughbred racing to the Lee Park racetrack.<\/p>\n

Not only is entry free but there are seven races to tempt punters to test their skills!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Free buses to the track will also be running: pick-up at noon at the Glendon Street bus stop in Kingaroy and 12:30pm at the Scott Car Park in Nanango.<\/p>\n

There’ll also be free face-painting at the track for children.<\/p>\n

Race 1 will jump at 12:55pm.<\/p>\n

This is the first meeting to be organised by the new interim committee installed in February.<\/p>\n

Saturday’s meeting has been dedicated to the memory of former trainer Kaye Hill, 75, who died at her home in Nanango in March.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kaye was one of the first women to gain a licence to become a strapper – and then a trainer – in Queensland.<\/p>\n

She trained a winner at Gatton, Prince of Diamonds, on February 28, just days before her death.<\/p>\n
