The 117th Kingaroy Show has been hailed as the best for years, with crowds flocking to the bull ride on Saturday and the speedway on Sunday.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Show Society president David Muller said the visitors to the two-day show also seemed to enjoy the truck show and ute show as well as all the usual animal judging events.<\/p>\n

“Cattle numbers were up; we had a good 140 head,” David said.<\/p>\n

“The poultry pavilion was up and we had a lot of entries in the education section; fine arts did well and the woodcraft was as good as ever.”<\/p>\n

David said there were also some new rides in sideshow alley, which proved popular.<\/p>\n

The show was officially opened on Saturday afternoon by “The Travelling Jackeroo”, Sam Hughes, who six months ago completed a 27,000km journey around Australia on a tractor, raising funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Dolly’s Dream and Farm Angels.<\/p>\n

A highlight of Sunday night’s speedway meeting was the running of the Queensland Title for National 4s, which was taken out by Gympie driver Tim Weir.<\/p>\n
