A new tourist attraction was officially opened in the South Burnett on Sunday at the popular Mulanah Gardens B&B and function centre at Benair.<\/p>\n

The Brothers Whisky Lounge is the creation of Mulanah Gardens owners Rhonda and Lindsay Kath.<\/p>\n

Lindsay built the lounge from timber salvaged from an old shed at the Kath family’s former farm at Ellesmere … and that is the link to the whisky lounge’s name.<\/p>\n

The “brothers” are Lindsay’s father Stan and uncle Harley.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stan had relocated a shed from the old pine mill at Nanango to the farm at Ellesmere.<\/p>\n

Later Stan sold the farm to his brother Harley who continued working the property until his death in 2021.<\/p>\n

Lindsay helped to clear the farm after Harley’s death and discovered the old shed was full of termites.<\/p>\n

“We rescued as much wood as we could,” he said.<\/p>\n

It is this wood which has been fashioned into the bar area.<\/p>\n

The Brothers Whisky Lounge is an intimate space which can seat about 10 people.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is open to the general public as well as guests staying at the B&B.<\/p>\n

‘We have a selection\u00a0 of whiskies from all over Scotland plus some Australian and Japanese brands,” Lindsay said.<\/p>\n

“We have about 50 Scottish ones.”<\/p>\n

Lindsay said he had always had a passion for whisky, and the ways it is made.<\/p>\n
