{"id":360382,"date":"2025-05-06T12:59:15","date_gmt":"2025-05-06T02:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=360382"},"modified":"2025-05-06T12:59:15","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T02:59:15","slug":"planning-change-for-solar-farms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2025\/05\/06\/planning-change-for-solar-farms\/","title":{"rendered":"Planning Change For Solar Farms"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_356168\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-356168\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/debfrecklington3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-356168\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/debfrecklington3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-356168\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Attorney-General Deb Frecklington<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>May 6, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The State Government has introduced legislation into Parliament which will make major solar farms &#8220;impact assessable&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>This means a development application will have to be lodged with the relevant local council and a public notification process undertaken.<\/p>\n<p>The public will be able to submit feedback \u2013 both positive and negative \u2013 which the council must consider before making a decision on the application.<\/p>\n<p>The application will be assessed against the council\u2019s planning scheme and relevant State codes.<\/p>\n<p>Member for Nanango, Attorney-General Deb Frecklington said the new planning framework would require renewable energy proponents to build social licence by showing how their projects would deliver meaningful, long-term benefits to affected communities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This legislation delivers a voice for regional communities after Labor spent a decade shutting them out of the consultation process on major renewable projects,&#8221; Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe changes ensure developers are subject to the same community consultation, transparency, and social accountability expected of all large-scale projects.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These amendments to the Planning Act will make it mandatory for renewable projects to engage early and genuinely with local councils and residents, and to contribute a lasting legacy for the Nanango electorate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These reforms build on earlier changes that made wind farms impact assessable.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related article: <a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2025\/01\/31\/planning-change-for-wind-farms\/\">Planning Change For Wind Farms<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The State Government has introduced legislation into Parliament which will make major solar farms &#8220;impact assessable&#8221;.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":356169,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[22,3],"tags":[1131],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
