The cyclists who took part in the recent Weekend At Wondai event spent about $55,000 in the South Burnett, a survey of participants has shown.<\/p>\n

The results of the Bicycle Queensland survey were presented to an executive meeting of the South Burnett Rail Trail Users Association (SBRTUA) on Monday night in Wooroolin.<\/p>\n

The three-day event over the Anzac Day weekend was organised by the SBRTUA in conjunction with Bicycle Queensland (BQ).<\/p>\n

The BQ survey showed the average spend per visitor (above ticket cost) was $320.<\/p>\n

A total of 98 per cent of participants were satisfied with the event, while 88 per cent would like to revisit the area.<\/p>\n

SBRTUA president Michelle Hansen said the event had brought a lot of economic benefits to the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although free camping was offered at the Wondai Sportsground, a quarter of the participants had opted to pay for their own accommodation in local venues.<\/p>\n

Secretary Jason Wyeth said all the comments over the weekend had been very positive.<\/p>\n

“Everyone had a great time and everyone was safe, which is important,” he said.<\/p>\n

“They commented that the volunteers were friendly and helpful and the South Burnett countryside looked brilliant.”<\/p>\n
