Police have charged two people with weapon offences after a three-day wanding operation in Kingaroy earlier this month.<\/p>\n

On April 8, 11 and 16 police conducted Operation Bushay targeting shops, car parks and other public areas.<\/p>\n

Officers used hand-held scanners, as well as walking through shopping centres and conducting street checks.<\/p>\n

Two people have been charged after two knives were allegedly located.<\/p>\n

A 39-year-old Taabinga man was arrested after officers allegedly located a concealed hunting knife during a wanding operation at Kingaroy Shoppingworld on April 8.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He has been charged with one count of possessing a knife in a public place and is due to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on April 30.<\/p>\n

A 17-year-old Kingaroy teenager was arrested after officers allegedly located a knife in his shoulder bag on April 16.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy CIB Officer-in-Charge Detective Sergeant Scott Prendergast said the operation demonstrated the ongoing commitment to keeping the community safe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBy maintaining a strong police presence in areas frequented by the public, we were able to intervene early, prevent potential incidents, and remove dangerous items such as knives from the community,” Det Sgt Prendergast said.<\/p>\n
