Toowoomba councillors have endorsed an engineering study into upgrades which will become necessary over the next decade to the water supply network in Yarraman.<\/p>\n

At Tuesday’s council meeting, the TRC endorsed the study into Yarraman’s water requirements as well as proposed upgrades to the sewerage networks in Pittsworth and Greater Western Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

The studies identified the three infrastructure upgrades – estimated to cost about $30.5 million – which should be included in the Local Government Infrastructure Plan.<\/p>\n

Deputy Mayor Cr Rebecca Vonhoff said the studies were a crucial step in planning for the region\u2019s long-term growth.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThese studies have identified areas where water and sewerage infrastructure will need to be upgraded within the next decade,\u201d Cr Vonhoff said.<\/p>\n

The Yarraman Water Supply Study identified the need for a range of upgrades and potential sites for a new water treatment plant, aimed at improving the current treatment process. This need will become increasingly important as the local population grows.<\/p>\n

The sewerage network studies revealed that both the Pittsworth Water Reclamation Facility and the Wetalla Water Reclamation Facility were projected to reach capacity at least a decade earlier than previously expected, based on updated growth data.<\/p>\n
