The Mayor’s Red Earth South Burnett Flood Appeal has officially wound up with the presentation of the keys of the raffled Nissan Micra to winner Clive Bishop, from Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The keys were handed over on Wednesday morning by Community Recovery and Resilience Minister David Crisafulli as part of a “Community Recovery Breakfast” held in the Glendon Street Forecourt in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The Nissan Micra, valued at $15,990, was donated to the flood appeal by Huston Motors in Kingaroy, and dealer principal Mark Huston was on hand for the presentation.<\/p>\n

Clive’s name was pulled out of the barrel during the Mayoral Ball held in the Kingaroy Town Hall on June 1.<\/p>\n

He told southburnett.com.au<\/strong>\u00a0he was stunned when he heard the news.<\/p>\n

He was also happy that not only had he won a car, but had also helped a good cause.<\/p>\n

So far the Red Earth Flood Appeal Committee has approved 68 applications for assistance and distributed $34,000 from the fund.<\/p>\n

The money is given away to be spent as “South Burnett Dollars” in the local community, and 27 local businesses have benefitted from it to date.<\/p>\n

Representatives from various local agencies were also on hand in the Forecourt to talk to flood-affected farmers who turned up to enjoy the free breakfast, and to assist with applications to QRAA and the Red Earth Appeal.<\/p>\n
