A VaxBus will be coming to the South Burnett this month to offer Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) vaccinations.<\/p>\n

Free vaccinations are available for adults and children (aged two months or older) as a response to an increased detection of the virus in mosquitos in the region.<\/p>\n

No Medicare card is required but residents should bring along a legal form of ID, such as a driver’s licence or passport.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that flooding leads to an increased exposure to mosquito-borne diseases, so following the impacts of ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, we\u2019re providing the VaxBus to keep our community safe in the most effective way: vaccination,\u201d Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN CEO Lucille Chalmers said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the Easter long weekend approaching, we\u2019re encouraging the community to take action now, knowing that these doses can take up to two weeks to become effective after administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany of our local general practices are also providing the vaccine, so if you are not able to be at the bus, please check with your practice to see if you can be vaccinated by them.”<\/p>\n
