The State Government has announced that Toowoomba Showgrounds will host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Equestrian events.<\/p>\n

Toowoomba Mayor Geoff McDonald said the “Toowoomba Equestrian Centre” would be a legacy project to benefit Queenslanders for the next 50 years.<\/p>\n

Premier David Crisafulli announced on Tuesday that the State Government would help fund the $54m equestrian centre.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a watershed moment for the Toowoomba region,” Mayor McDonald said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are jumping for joy today.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur advocacy efforts … have paid off. In addition to the legacy element, to play such a significant role in the delivery of the world\u2019s largest event, the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032, is a coming-of-age moment for the Toowoomba region.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat an exciting time it will be for Toowoomba to have Olympic medals awarded right here in our region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe eyes of the world will be on us as the best dressage, showjumping and eventing riders and their incredible horses compete for Olympic glory right here in Toowoomba.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe flow-on effects of today\u2019s announcement could be massive and lead to the delivery of infrastructure for our region that may not have been possible without the golden opportunity of hosting Olympic and Paralympic events.<\/p>\n
