The turn-off to Whitaker Road at South Nanango<\/figcaption><\/figure>March 19, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n

Two South Nanango residents addressed South Burnett Regional Council on Wednesday morning, seeking the urgent upgrade of Whitaker Road at South Nanango to bitumen.<\/p>\n

Barbara Anderson told the March council meeting that the gravel road was the only connection between Old Yarraman Road and Old Esk Road and attracted a lot of traffic.<\/p>\n

She said the amount of dust kicked up was creating severe health concerns.<\/p>\n

She also pointed to alleged speeding by vehicles, especially trucks.<\/p>\n

Fellow resident Terese Vaughan said there were 11 rural properties located along the road.<\/p>\n

She said the route was also used by a school bus, and the concerned residents had received a letter of support from the bus company.<\/p>\n

The road was also used by people travelling to the nearby Phoenix Creek Motocross Park.<\/p>\n

Other concerns raised included drainage issues and road safety.<\/p>\n
