Part of Sundstrup Park has been identified as a potential site for the much-discussed Wondai Men’s Shed.<\/p>\n

The area, which is bounded by Bramston and South streets, currently also houses the Wondai tennis courts, netball courts, an off-leash dog park and is the burial site for Wondai’s much-loved Charlotte the Emu who died in 2014.<\/p>\n

Cr Ros Heit told Wednesday’s South Burnett Regional Council meeting the only hitch to the proposal was there was Non-Exclusive Native Title existent over a section of the block.<\/p>\n

However, the Wakka Wakka PBC – the authorised body which was appointed by the Federal Court to manage Native Title on behalf of the Native Title holders – had been approached.<\/p>\n

Cr Heit said she believed they could support the proposal, however, a legal agreement would have to be drawn up.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

A portion of Sundstrup Park, near the netball courts, is the suggested location for the Men’s Shed.<\/p>\n

Other sites which have been discussed as possible locations are 54-56 Burrows Street (part of the Wondai Industrial Estate) and Queensland Rail land closer to the Wondai CBD.<\/p>\n

Member for Flynn Colin Boyce met Wondai Men’s Shed members and visited possible locations with councillors during his recent pre-election visit to Wondai.<\/p>\n
