Young offenders from the South Burnett will be referred to two new programs designed to tackle youth crime announced by the State Government last week.<\/p>\n

Service providers have been invited to tender to run <\/span>the “Regional Reset” and “Staying on Track” programs i<\/span>n communities across Queensland.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Staying on Track” will deliver a 12-month rehabilitation program post-detention for youth, including at least six months’ intensive support to reintegrate them into the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A spokesperson for Attorney-General Deb Frecklington said the State Government was\u00a0looking forward to organisations from the South Burnett tendering to deliver this.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The “Regional Reset” program will deliver nine early intervention residential programs with a one-to-three week “reset” for youth demonstrating high-risk behaviours including substance use, aggression or truancy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The nine locations for this program are: Far North Queensland, North Queensland, Central Queensland (Rockhampton), Gold Coast-Logan, Ipswich-Darling Downs (Ipswich), Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay (Bundaberg)\u00a0 and western Queensland.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said “Regional Reset” would be taking referrals from the South Burnett area.<\/p>\n

Tenders for “Staying on Track” close on <\/span>April<\/span> 28 while tenders for “Regional Reset” will close on May <\/span>13.<\/span><\/p>\n

Premier David Crisafulli said the two programs would “change the trajectory for troubled kids and turn them towards a brighter future”.<\/p>\n
