Stanwell is offering a First Nations Scholarship in the South Burnett to support tertiary study and which could lead to future employment with the corporation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

March 14, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n

Applications are now open for Stanwell\u2019s inaugural South Burnett First Nations Scholarship for university study.<\/p>\n

The scholarship is open to First Nations people who reside in the South Burnett and are studying (or planning to study) full time, are a recent school-leaver, can demonstrate service to community, and have started university studies or are due to start studies this year.<\/p>\n

The support is to assist while living and studying away from the region, and the study should relate to the energy sector in some way.<\/p>\n

The potential fields of study could include Engineering, Health and Safety, Environment, Human Resources, Finance, Science, Business, Procurement, Communication and Marketing, Legal Studies etc.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Stanwell General Manager Southern Generation Mick Joy said this was the first time Stanwell had offered a First Nations Scholarship in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

\u201cSupporting university study that will potentially lead to a career in the energy industry is an important way for Stanwell to implement pathways which help to deliver meaningful outcomes for our local First Nations people,\u201d Mr Joy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve worked closely with the Wakka Wakka Native Title Aboriginal Corporation Board, Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council, Cherbourg Elders Advisory Group and the education community to bring this scholarship to life.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t wait to help support our first South Burnett First Nations scholarship recipient in their chosen career path.\u201d<\/p>\n

The scholarship includes $10,000 assistance a year for up to four years, a mentoring program, vacation work opportunities, and possible employment with Stanwell at the end of study.<\/p>\n

Applications are now open and will close on Monday, March 24, 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n
