Rescue helicopters have landed on the Burnett Highway near Ban Ban Springs at the scene of a two-vehicle crash which has blocked the highway.<\/p>\n

The incident has occurred at 3:30pm about 10km north of the Ban Ban Springs intersection with the Isis Highway, near Ginoondan.<\/p>\n

A police spokesman said the highway was closed in both directions and delays were expected.<\/p>\n

Three people will be airlifted to hospital suffering serious but non-life threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

No further information is available at this time.<\/p>\n

UPDATE June 12: \u00a0An AGL Action Rescue Helicopter spokesman said two station wagons \u2013 one with a caravan under tow \u2013 collided at speed along a straight section of the highway about 3:30pm. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Firefighters worked to free two people trapped in one of the vehicles.<\/p>\n

The front seat passenger, a 69-year-old Brisbane woman was treated at the scene by the helicopter\u2019s flight doctor and intensive care flight paramedics for abdominal injuries. She was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women\u2019s Hospital in a critical condition.<\/p>\n

The driver, a 68-year-old Brisbane man suffered possible spinal injuries from the impact. He was stabilised before being flown to Bundaberg Base Hospital. He is in a stable condition.<\/p>\n

The driver of the other car, a 50-year-old Bundaberg man, suffered chest, abdominal and possible spinal injuries. He was airlifted to Bundaberg Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.<\/p>\n

The highway remained closed for several hours.<\/p>\n

Both the Sunshine Coast and Bundaberg-based AGL helicopters were called to the scene.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
