Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss<\/figcaption><\/figure>June 11, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

Murgon’s Kristy Czerniec will be attending the U19 State Squash Championships thanks to a grant from the Federal Government’s Australian Local Sporting Champions program.<\/p>\n

Also successful in the Wide Bay electorate was Tino Faasuamaleaui, from Widgee, who will be attending the Primary School Rugby League National Championships.<\/p>\n

Federal Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss today announced the successful applicants from an extra round of funding of the program.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome additional funding has been made available which allowed the assessment panel to review the applications from previous rounds,\u201d Mr Truss said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is pleasing to see so many talented young sporting men and women in our region, with a high number of skilled, dedicated and committed people applying for the grants. The extra funding will help to nurture the sporting careers of more young people and I trust the funding will help them to achieve their sporting goals.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Local Sporting Champions program is designed to assist young sportsmen, women and teams, to compete in significant competitions, such as state and national championships.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grants of $500 per individual and $3000 per team are available for people aged between 12 and 18 years to help meet the costs of participating in those events, including travel, equipment, uniforms, and accommodation. <\/p>\n
