A health emergency two years ago prompted a fundraising campaign which has resulted in several pieces of specialised equipment being donated to Kingaroy Hospital.<\/p>\n

In 2023, Hughie – the young son of Aleisha and Mitch Gray – was admitted to hospital with breathing difficulties.<\/p>\n

“I noticed during his stay that crucial medical equipment was being moved between patient\u2019s rooms, and I was worried a child would not be able to access the equipment they needed when they needed it most,” Aleisha said.<\/p>\n

The pair launched a fundraising campaign through their business, South Burnett Hire and Sales, promising to match any donations up to $5000.<\/p>\n

The community rallied to the cause, including the Kingaroy Hospital Auxiliary which joined in the fundraising efforts.<\/p>\n

All up, an amazing $31,000 was raised, enough to buy four oximeters, two humidifiers and an emergency trolley for babies and children.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The last piece of equipment – which had been on back order – only arrived recently.<\/p>\n

During the last school holidays, Hughie and his family visited Kingaroy Hospital to check out the new equipment.<\/p>\n

“The humidifiers help a child breathe easier by adding moisture to the air, while an oximeter monitors a patient\u2019s oxygen levels,\u201d Nurse Unit manager Karlie said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are now able to provide better and more timely health care to babies and children following the kind donations from local businesses, organisations and people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aleisha and Mitch want to thank the following businesses and people who contributed a total of $24,000 towards the medical equipment: <\/strong>A. Bowering, Raffin Electrical Contractors, R. Grivell, J. Carey, B. Heiner, Kingaroy Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, J & D Biltoft, PJS Tech Engineering, K. Hession, Kingaroy Office Central, G. Potter, Boots\u2019N Bulldust Inc, S. Knudsen, ATC Consulting Engineers, A. Ramsay, South Burnett Community Hospital Foundation Ltd, G. Greach, J & J Marriott, R. Morris, A. Langford, L. Morrison, C & L Rackemann, S. Wade, R.
