Toowoomba Regional Council is inviting Yarraman and Cooyar residents and business owners to provide feedback on how they manage their waste.<\/p>\n

Cr Melissa Taylor said had a statutory obligation to review its Waste Management Strategy every five years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cost of waste going to landfill continues to escalate each year with the Queensland Government\u2019s state landfill levy increasing, so too does the construction and operational costs for landfills. Council needs to better understand community needs to determine affordable and practical ways to reduce the amount of waste entering landfill,” Cr Taylor said.<\/p>\n

“This will then minimise rates and utilities charges as well as service costs to the community.”<\/p>\n

The TRC is conducting three surveys to gather community feedback.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One focusses on recycling and kerbside waste collection, while the other two aim to gather information about how residents and business owners generate and manage their waste, how they access waste management facilities and what policies would potentially motivate people to change their waste management behaviours.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe strongly encourage residents to take a few minutes to complete these surveys, it will greatly help our community,\u201d Cr Taylor said.<\/p>\n

The three surveys are open until Friday, March 28, on the Have Your Say Page<\/a><\/strong> or residents can contact council to receive a hard copy to complete and return.<\/p>\n

Survey participants will also be eligible to go in the draw to win a $500 EFTPOS card, with one winner per survey.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
