Queensland’s annual free flu vaccination program begins on Saturday (March 1).<\/p>\n

The State Government is urging all Queenslanders \u2013 aged from six months \u2013 to roll up their sleeves to get vaccinated,<\/p>\n

The $25 million program runs from March 1 to September 30.<\/p>\n

The vaccine will be available at GPs, pharmacies and community vaccination centres. <\/p>\n

Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr Heidi Carroll said it was important people did not underestimate the impact influenza could have. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen a continuing rise in flu cases, hospitalisations and flu-related deaths over the past three years and that\u2019s why it\u2019s more important than ever to get vaccinated,\u201d Dr Carroll said. <\/p>\n

\u201cAlmost 200 people died in Queensland from the flu last year and 80 per cent of the almost 7000 people hospitalised were not vaccinated.” <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
