The late David Bryce … remembered now with a biannual art prize<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery will honouring the artworks of the late David Bryce with a special exhibition at the gallery during March and April.<\/p>\n

The exhibition of paintings by Bryce, who died in 2000, is the official launch of next year’s David Bryce Rural Art Award, a major art competition held every two years at the Kingaroy Gallery.<\/p>\n

Bryce was one of Kingaroy\u2019s best-known and best-loved artists.<\/p>\n

The award was born out of a retrospective of his work in 2016 in celebration of what would have been David Bryce\u2019s 100th birthday.<\/p>\n

The competition aims to capture the essence of contemporary rural life.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“David is celebrated for his insight and exploration of prophetic themes,” the gallery’s Fran Van Vegchel said.<\/p>\n

“He was celebrated not just as a painter, woodcarver and ceramicist but also for his deep commitment to conservation, his faith, and his humanist values and he was an inspiration to many who met him.<\/p>\n

“Join us as we commemorate his work and inspire future generations of artists to celebrate the beauty and spirit of rural Australia.”<\/p>\n

Also at the Kingaroy Gallery in March will be an exhibition of paper tole by local expert, Rosemarie Matthews-Frederick<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2018TOLE\u2019D in PAPER” will be on display in the Main Gallery from March 3-28.<\/p>\n

The official opening of the exhibitions will be from 5:00pm on Saturday, March 8.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery is open Monday to Thursday from 10:00am-4:00pm; and Fridays and Saturdays 9:00am-1:00pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
