South Burnett Regional Council has received a grant of more than $200,000 from the State Government to build a new toilet block at Butter Factory Park in Nanango.<\/p>\n

Work on the project, which will replace the existing one-toilet block with a modern all-inclusive three-stall block, was due to start on Monday (February 17).<\/p>\n

The $204,719 grant came from the Department of Sport, Racing and Olympics and Paralympic Games.<\/p>\n

“Butter Factory Park is long-established and has been the centre of weekend and school holiday activities for children over the years,” a council spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“Council is excited to be able to install a new all-inclusive amenity building, which will bring longevity to the park for years to come.”<\/p>\n

Small parts of the park will be closed temporarily during the construction work.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The existing toilet block in Butter Factory Park has been targeted by vandals several times in recent years.<\/p>\n

The new amenities will complement the all-abilities playground at the park which was installed in 2020-21 after a campaign of community fundraising and support from the South Burnett Regional Council and Heritage Community Branch, Nanango.<\/p>\n

Deputy Mayor Jane Erkens said it was hoped a mural could be painted in future on the doors of the new block to commemorate this community campaign.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
