“Faces” is Lucinda Dumont’s fifth exhibition, despite being just nine years old!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Wondai Regional Art Gallery has built up a reputation over the years for encouraging young artists.<\/p>\n

Kidz Korner highlights works submitted by local schools and is a popular regular feature, but this month a young artist has broken out to take over the main gallery at the grand old age of nine!<\/p>\n

And, more amazingly, “Faces” is Lucinda Dumont’s fifth exhibition at a real gallery.<\/p>\n

Lucinda has previously exhibited in Gin Gin, Mt Perry, Eidsvold and Maryborough, been featured on TV, has her own website and has sold more than 30 works.<\/p>\n

Wondai Gallery’s Elaine Madill booked the exhibition two years ago on reputation alone.<\/p>\n

Lucinda’s proud mum, Lauren Corvino, said her daughter had been painting for about seven years (yes, one of the works done at age two is included in the Wondai exhibition).<\/p>\n

The pair hail from a small town between Gin Gin and Miriam Vale, a big change from Lauren’s home town of New York.<\/p>\n

Although Lucinda’s now being praised for her talent in the art world, it’s not the career she had in mind when she was even younger.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I wanted to be a ballerina,” she said at last Friday’s opening night. “Well, I guess now I am an artist.”<\/p>\n

Lucinda’s not the only talent on show this month at Wondai.<\/p>\n

In the front gallery, two familiar faces from Murgon have returned to reprise a display of their skills with leather.<\/p>\n

Maureen Irving and Sandy Hoffmann have brought along more of their works for “Two Great Minds Go Whimsical”.<\/p>\n

The back gallery features collage works by Gordonbrook artist Romaine Undery.<\/p>\n

Romaine’s works highlight her love of nature; a\u00a0large work,\u00a0“Butterfly Kiss”, was voted People’s Choice on the night.<\/p>\n

The exhibitions were officially opened by South Burnett Mayor Kathy Duff.<\/p>\n
