Kumbia Police officer-in-charge, Senior Constable Todd Armstrong, was presented with a special award at Monday night’s Kumbia Neighbourhood Watch meeting.<\/p>\n

Snr Const Armstrong was officially presented with the 2024 Police Officer Award for the Darling Downs District by Assistant Commissioner Kev Guteridge and Acting Assistant Commissioner Kerry Johnson.<\/p>\n

Assistant Commissioner Guteridge travelled from Brisbane for the presentation, but many people would remember him from his days based in Murgon and at the Kingaroy Stock Squad.<\/p>\n

Acting Assistant Commissioner Johnson, based in Toowoomba, heads up the Southern Region which includes the Darling Downs District.<\/p>\n

He said Senior Constable Armstrong was receiving his award for being an integral member of the Kumbia Neighbourhood Watch group.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Senior Constable Armstrong has been instrumental in aiding the Kumbia group to effectively encourage residents and business owners in the uptake of and utilising CCTV to protect property and their community,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Johnson said.<\/p>\n

“Senior Constable Armstrong has also been instrumental in the introduction of ‘Coffee With A Cop’ in Kumbia which has strengthened the engagement between the community and police.”<\/p>\n

Kumbia Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator Morris Winter also praised Snr Const Armstrong for his work with “Hunt Right” and his involvement in other community activities alongside his wife Danielle.<\/p>\n

Snr Const Armstrong thanked the group for nominating him for the award, and assured them that he wasn’t going anywhere and the station wasn’t about to close.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I wouldn’t be able to do my job without the support from the amazing community that we live in,” he said.<\/p>\n

He said the community spirit had been passed down through the local families which made Kumbia a special place.<\/p>\n
