Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski travelled to Cherbourg recently to discuss law and order issues in the local region with Mayor Bruce Simpson and CEO Chatur Zala.<\/p>\n

Also present at the meeting – held earlier this month – were Superintendent Douglas McDonald, from Darling Downs Police; Inspector Scott Stahlhut, from the South Burnett Patrol Group; and Cr Tom Langton, who is also a Police Liaison Officer (PLO) at Cherbourg.<\/p>\n

Topics discussed included:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Potential upgrades to facilities at the Cherbourg Police Station to better serve the needs of the local police and the community,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Improved housing for police personnel, and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • A commitment to building upon the strong relationship between the Cherbourg community and local police.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Two new PLOs were also officially welcomed: Edwin Simpson and Dorothea Douglas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

        PLOs are employed by the Queensland Police Service to build positive links with specific communities in a bid to reduce and prevent crime and improve community knowledge of law and order issues.<\/p>\n
