Wondai\u2019s 135 Army Cadet Unit opened its doors on Sunday to give young people and their parents a glimpse of life as an army cadet.<\/p>\n

The open day was held at the 25\/49 RQR Depot in Bramston Street.<\/p>\n

Lieutenant (AAC) Andrew Sampson said it had been one of the most successful open days so far, with 15 young people signing up.<\/p>\n

This takes the 135 Army Cadet Unit to almost 30 members.<\/p>\n

The cadets take part in regular bush camps, learn camouflage techniques, fieldcraft using compasses and maps, first aid and communications.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They are also invited to take part in ceremonial events such as Anzac Day and Australia Day.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, they also learned how to build a catapult!<\/p>\n

Young people \u2013 girls and boys \u2013 aged from 13 to 18 can join the Army Cadets.<\/p>\n

135 Army Cadet Unit meets every second Sunday from 9:00am to 4:00pm at the Wondai depot.<\/p>\n
