{"id":357145,"date":"2025-01-31T12:47:13","date_gmt":"2025-01-31T02:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=357145"},"modified":"2025-01-31T12:47:13","modified_gmt":"2025-01-31T02:47:13","slug":"planning-change-for-wind-farms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2025\/01\/31\/planning-change-for-wind-farms\/","title":{"rendered":"Planning Change For Wind Farms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>January 31, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All new wind farm applications in Queensland will become &#8220;impact assessable&#8221; from Monday (February 3).<\/p>\n<p>This means a development application will have to be lodged with the relevant local council and a public notification process undertaken.<\/p>\n<p>The public will be able to submit feedback &#8211; both positive and negative &#8211; which the council must consider before making a decision on the application.<\/p>\n<p>The application will be assessed against the council&#8217;s planning scheme and relevant State codes.<\/p>\n<p>The State Code covering wind farm developments has also been updated.<\/p>\n<p><strong> New requirements include:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Making sure wind new farm applications result in no significant loss of high quality agricultural land;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Workers&#8217; accommodation associated with the construction does not adversely affect surrounding communities;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Decommissioning becomes the sole responsibility of the wind farm operator, guaranteed through bonds or financial guarantees and no longer leaving private landowners at risk;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Any disturbance to environmental footprints are rehabilitated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A State Government spokesperson said the new planning pathway for wind farms was the first step to requiring all renewable projects to become &#8220;impact assessable&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The next phase would focus on projects such as large-scale solar farms, as well as introduce a community benefit framework for renewable energy developments that was similar to the requirements that other major development projects deliver in regional communities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All new wind farm applications in Queensland will become &#8220;impact assessable&#8221; from Monday (February 3).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":238479,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[5,22,3],"tags":[1131],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
