Legal Challenge Ends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>January 14, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The long legal fight by the Oakey Coal Action Alliance (OCAA) against the expansion of the New Acland mine is over.<\/p>\n<p>OCAA has withdrawn its appeal, launched in 2023, against the State Government&#8217;s decision to grant an associated water licence to New Hope for the Stage 3 expansion.<\/p>\n<p>The Environmental Defenders Office had supported the OCAA&#8217;s challenge in the Land Court.<\/p>\n<p>Political debates and court cases in multiple jurisdictions surrounding the Stage 3 expansion have been continuing for more than a decade.<\/p>\n<p>New Hope chair Robert Millner said the withdrawal of the latest action would give certainty to the local
