The Wondai Business and Development Association has invited its members to attend a crime prevention meeting to be held in Wondai on January 18.<\/p>\n

The meeting has been organised by a group of local residents following recent break-ins and vehicle thefts in the town.<\/p>\n

WBDA secretary Jackson Ponder said the meeting, to be held from 2:00pm at the Wondai Diggers Club, would be “an informational think tank about how we can better secure our homes, and what the community as a whole can do about crime”.<\/p>\n

Cill Lorne, one of the meeting organisers, emphasised on a recently formed Facebook group that it was not a vigilante meeting.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We are meeting to discuss ways to better secure our homes and petitioning for a better police presence and to get a full-time manned station in our town,” Cill said.<\/p>\n

“Please let your family and friends know who don’t have Facebook.<\/p>\n

“Please sign in at the door, no hats to be worn, and please be respectful. We are NOT having a vigilante meeting.<\/p>\n

“Hope to see everyone there.”<\/p>\n

The meeting follows visits from news crews from Channel 7, Channel 9’s A Current Affair and the ABC to report on Wondai residents’ concerns.<\/p>\n

Queensland Police will have their Mobile Police Beat van back in Wondai on January 16.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It will be parked in Mackenzie Street in the Wondai CBD from 9:00am to noon.<\/p>\n
