December 18, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emergency crews were called to back-to-back swiftwater rescues after two vehicles became stranded in floodwaters at Merlwood on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

A QFD spokesperson said two fire and rescue crews were called to the intersection of Murgon-Gayndah Road and Bicks Road about 7:20pm.<\/p>\n

They found one person – believed to be a man aged in his 50s – inside a vehicle.<\/p>\n

A third crew was called about 10 minutes later after a second vehicle also became stranded, carrying a woman in her 50s and her teenage grandson.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said rescuers used a motorised swiftwater rescue craft to transport the three people to safety.<\/p>\n

Police officers and ambulance paramedics also attended the incident.<\/p>\n

A QAS spokesperson said all three declined transport to hospital.<\/p>\n
