Stanwell Corporation says it is ready to deliver reliable energy this summer to Queenslanders following overhauls at its Tarong and Stanwell power stations.<\/p>\n

The government-owned corporation completed the planned maintenance at Unit 2 at Tarong ($53 million) and Unit 2 at Stanwell ($60 million).<\/p>\n

Both projects employed about 500 workers each, and boosted the local economies by about $10 million.<\/p>\n

CEO Michael O\u2019Rourke said the overhauls were part of Stanwell\u2019s year-round maintenance program.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe operate two of the most efficient and reliable coal-fired power stations in Australia, the Stanwell Power Station west of Rockhampton, and the Tarong power stations near Kingaroy,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom these power stations, we were able to deliver more than 19 terawatt hours of energy last year to the National Electricity Market and provide more than a third of all of Queensland\u2019s power with a reliability factor of more than 99 per cent.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOur assets are required to have regular maintenance to ensure they are kept in good condition and continue to deliver electricity reliably and safely, including during the hot summer energy-intensive months.<\/p>\n
