Six drink drivers – and 30 drug drivers – were detected during the recent targeted traffic operation in the Darling Downs Police District.<\/p>\n

Operation Whiskey Nitrox focused on life-endangering offences such as speeding, impaired driving, fatigue, mobile phone use, not wearing seatbelts, vehicle compliance and roadworthiness, and heavy vehicle offences.<\/p>\n

Police partnered with several other government agencies during the seven-day operation – from November 30 to December 6 – to carry out roadside breath tests, stationary observations, and overt and covert mobile patrols.<\/p>\n

Static interception sites were established at a number of sites across a wide area, including within the South Burnett.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Results from Operation Whiskey Nitrox included 3630 RBTs resulting in six drink drivers being caught, and 152 roadside drug tests resulting in 30 drug drivers being caught.<\/p>\n

Police also issued more than 268 Traffic Infringement Notices, including 116 for speeding.<\/p>\n

In total, 25 people were charged with 27 traffic offences.<\/p>\n

Darling Downs Chief Inspector Danny Shaw said results from Operation Whiskey Nitrox proved why it was important to crack down on those putting their lives and other lives at risk on our roads.<\/p>\n
