Patrons at the Nanango Services Club were treated recently to a thrilling performance by a newly formed pipes and drums band.<\/p>\n

It was the first public performance by the Burnett Celtic Pipes & Drums, but was also an opportunity for the band members to say “thank you” to their hosts.<\/p>\n

The group was presented with a cheque for $7500 by the Nanango Services Club and Nanango RSL Sub-Branch.<\/p>\n

The Burnett band is being administered by the well-known Murrumba Pipes & Drums Society which have become familiar faces in the South Burnett through their performances at the annual Scots In The Bush celebration at Boondooma Homestead.<\/p>\n

Troy Ellis, from the Burnett group, said the aim of the new band was to “foster a family-orientated fun atmosphere for the members whilst performing at a high level of professionalism and upholding the traditions and showing respect to the Scottish pipe bands of the past”.<\/p>\n

“We also strive to introduce this style of music to the younger generations in the way of tuition, thus providing a gateway for new players to keep this form of music continuing well into the future.”<\/p>\n
