Newly appointed Primary Industries Minister Tony Perrett has marked National Agriculture Day by emphasising the State Government’s commitment to “supercharging” Queensland agriculture.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur farmers and regional communities are the backbone of Queensland\u2019s economy,\u201d Minister Perrett said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis plan is about unlocking potential, driving investment, and delivering long-term certainty for the sector and we are committed to putting Queensland agriculture first.”<\/p>\n

Mr Perrett said the State Government would strengthen Queensland\u2019s biosecurity with a $50 million boost, including 100 new staff in regional communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said the government also remained committed to consulting with stakeholders, ensuring that policy decisions were grounded in scientific evidence and delivered “real benefits to Queensland\u2019s farmers, fishers and timber producers”.<\/p>\n
