November 6, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

Did you see the convoy of postie bikes heading out of Kingaroy on Wednesday morning?<\/p>\n

A dozen of the bright red 110cc Hondas – escorted by old and new fire engines –\u00a0 rolled out of the Kingaroy fire station at the start of a four-day charity ride.<\/p>\n

This is the sixth year that firies and ex-firies have banded together to raise funds for Movember via the Postie Bike Run.<\/p>\n

(Many were also sporting moustaches for the occasion!)<\/p>\n

Former Kingaroy firefighter Rob Horton, now based at Walkerston, said the riders would spend four days and three nights on the road, covering a total of 1000km.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Day 1, the riders and their two support vehicles will head off via Cecil Plains to Condamine.<\/p>\n

Then on Day 2, it’ll be via Wandoan to Taroom and Theodore.<\/p>\n

On Day 3, the convoy will head from Cracow to Eidsvold, Mundubbera, Proston and on to Hivesville.<\/p>\n

Day 4 will be back to Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Former Kingaroy firefighter Danny Hurt said the group had chosen postie bikes as they were “something different”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The whole point is the challenge,” he said.<\/p>\n

The riders also hope to raise about $12,000 for men’s health through their Movember campaign.<\/p>\n

Danny said the Postie Bike Run would like to thank its sponsors, including McMahon Transport, Sunpork Swickers, Riverina Stockfeeds, Kewpie, Westlink and Bundaberg Harley-Davidson.<\/p>\n
