LNP candidate Deb Frecklington has been easily re-elected for a fifth term as Member for Nanango.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington, who entered Parliament at the 2012 poll, had a 12.2 per cent margin going into Saturday’s election but faced challenges from seven candidates.<\/p>\n

At 8:30pm, she had secured 52.41 per cent of the unofficial preliminary vote<\/a> with a 4 per cent swing to her, taking a clear lead over Labor’s Val Heward (18.84 per cent) and One Nation’s Adam Maslen (11.23 per cent).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Independent candidate Jason Miles, who campaigned hard in the seat, was in fourth spot with 6.03 per cent.<\/p>\n

LNP volunteers gathered at Kingaroy’s Carrollee Hotel on Saturday night to watch the results come in after spending the day working at booths across the electorate.<\/p>\n

Overall, the LNP’s position in the State poll was less clear with a stronger-than-predicted vote for the ALP, especially in the south-east of the State, and a drop in the Green vote.<\/p>\n

However, in many seats there were still a large number of ballots to count, including pre-poll votes.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 10:15pm:<\/b> The LNP appears to have gained sufficient seats to govern in its own right.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 11:00pm:<\/b> LNP Leader David Crisafulli has claimed victory. He also promised a ministry position to former party leaders, including Deb Frecklington.<\/p>\n

UPDATE October 27:<\/strong> Premier Steven Miles officially conceded defeat on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
