A “Backseat SleepOut” held in Brisbane on Thursday night has raised more than $52,000 for the Property Industry Foundation (PIF), an industry body supporting a homelessness project in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

More than 50 industry members slept in the backseat of their cars at the inaugural event to raise awareness about homeless youth.<\/p>\n

PIF State Manager Antoinette Rusby-Perera said the funds raised would go towards transitional housing projects across the State.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the avenues that the funds raised from last night\u2019s event will go towards is our soon-to-be completed Haven House Project in Kingaroy,\u201d Ms Rusby-Perera said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Managed by South Burnett CTC, the project provides much needed transitional housing for young people in the South Burnett region.<\/p>\n

\u201cHomes such as Haven House Kingaroy are critical for addressing the urgent need for safe housing and with the main drivers of homelessness being domestic and family violence2, this purpose-built
\nproperty will contribute to the protection and wellbeing of Queensland\u2019s most vulnerable,\u201d Ms Rusby-Perara said.<\/p>\n
