October 21, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

Homicide detectives investigating the disappearance of Jack McLennan near Murgon have established “Operation Whiskey Pocket” as the official search for the missing man is scaled back.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said detectives were investigating the circumstances surrounding Jack’s disappearance.<\/p>\n

Evidence was being analysed and evaluated and the family had been advised.<\/p>\n

The official search for Jack, who was last seen on October 4, was scaled back at the weekend.<\/p>\n

The extensive air and land operation used police divers, dogs, SES volunteers, a helicopter and drones.<\/p>\n

A pair of shoes, believed to be owned by Jack, were found near Ficks Crossing, and a hat near Macalister and McLucas Streets, Murgon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Although the official search is over, family and friends have been continuing to scour the local area and put up “missing” posters.<\/p>\n

Jack is described as Caucasian, about 185cm tall with light brown hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and dark shorts.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information about Jack\u2019s whereabouts should immediately contact police.<\/p>\n

Nearby residents are being asked to continue checking their properties, including any outbuildings and sheds.<\/p>\n

Police are also still appealing to witnesses, particularly a person who camped overnight in the Ficks Crossing area, to come forward.<\/p>\n

It is believed this person was travelling in a dark-coloured vehicle with a roof top tent.<\/p>\n

Investigators are also appealing for anyone who may have seen a person walking along the Bunya Highway towards Wondai on October 4 about 10:40pm to contact police.<\/strong><\/p>\n
