South Burnett Regional Council has compiled a wish list of local projects it wants the government to support … no matter who wins the upcoming State Election.<\/p>\n

Council has sent copies of its “Advocacy Plan” to all eight candidates who have put up their hands for the Nanango Electorate.<\/p>\n

Some of the projects include:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • $40 million upgrade of the Gordonbrook Dam Spillway,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Upgrade of the single-lane Tanduringie Bridge on the New England Highway,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Upgrade of the single-lane sections of Byee, Mundubbera-Durong and Kingaroy-Barker Creek roads,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Reinstatement of biosecurity officers to manage compliance in regards to the Tick Line, and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
            \n
          • Funding for two washdown facilities to help reduce the spread of weeds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            “This is an important document that had input from the entire Council team, with a number of big ticket items that Council would like to see rolled out over the next four years,” Mayor Kathy Duff said.<\/p>\n

            “It is very important that our Council works closely with the successful candidate to ensure that we get the best possible outcomes for our region.”<\/p>\n

            Mayor Duff said the Gordonbrook Dam project was “at the top of the list”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

            “Our Council simply cannot fund this type of upgrade as it is out of the reach of our local government area and our ratepayers simply cannot afford it,\u201d Mayor Duff said.<\/p>\n

            The Mayor said the renewable energy footprint was causing issues across the region, particularly with road infrastructure and visual amenity issues.<\/p>\n

            “Therefore we are seeking State Government assistance with the rollout of projects, enabling local government and the community to have more say on where they go, the roads they use and what benefits they could potentially offer to the affected communities,” Mayor Duff said.<\/p>\n

            Deputy Mayor Danita Potter also highlighted the housing crisis and the need for more incentives to encourage medical professionals to the South Burnett.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
