October 15, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

The South Burnett Relay For Life fundraising campaign’s last major event for 2024 hit T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Teams gathered to do laps of the Red Ants’ oval to raise money and support cancer survivors and carers.<\/p>\n

Relay For Life supports Cancer Council Queensland.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett’s cumulative effort every year includes many events, including the Dinner With The Captains, Ride 4 Relay, Cattle For A Cure, lots of smaller team events and, of course, Saturday’s actual relay walk.<\/p>\n

It was a special year for the Birds Of A Feather team which has now been raising funds with morning teas, lunches and garage sales for an amazing 20 years!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The spectacular Relay For Life effort by the South Burnett, possible the largest per capita amount raised in Australia, was acknowledged during the opening ceremony.<\/p>\n

“You are all amazing, you rock!” Cancer Council Queensland representative Angela McLaren said.<\/p>\n

The walkers are kept entertained during their circuits with live music.<\/p>\n

Music this year was organised by Rob Fitz-Herbert and included Amber Goldsmith, Amos, the Bucket Boys, Paradox, the Kingaroy State High School band, Footsteps and Rufus Jack.<\/p>\n

Pinking Up The South Burnett<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

There were two other cancer-related fundraisers in the South Burnett at the weekend, this time linked to the October “Pinking Up The South Burnett” campaign.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At Wondai Memorial Hall, a morning tea was organised on Saturday morning by Tess Elliott to support the McGrath Foundation and Breast Cancer Network Australia.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Jackie Martin hosted a fundraiser in Taras Hall at Nanango RSL Club as a fundraiser for the McGrath Foundation.<\/p>\n
