Representatives from Spanish-based renewables company X-ELIO met with about a dozen local residents on Friday afternoon in Kumbia Memorial Hall.

X-ELIO proposes to build a 300MW battery energy storage system (BESS) on Ellesmere Road at Alice Creek.

The BESS would use lithium-ion batteries housed in 472 shipping-container sized steel cabinets, painted white.

The project is currently in its planning and approval stages.

The three X-ELIO representatives brought along a map to show residents where the project will be located but would not discuss any details with southburnett.com.au.
