BreastScreen Queensland’s mobile van has returned to the South Burnett, with appointments available in Nanango and Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

The unit set up outside Nanango Hospital on September 26 and will remain there until October 25.<\/p>\n

It will then head to Kingaroy Hospital where it will be based from October 28 to December 6.<\/p>\n

Health Promotion Officer Sandra Peut encouraged local women to attend the free service while it is in the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Mobile Service visits the region each year, and we urge women to take advantage of this opportunity by booking a free breast screen,\u201d Ms Peut said.<\/p>\n

\u201cRegular two-yearly screening at BreastScreen Queensland means any breast changes can be picked up at an earlier stage when they\u2019re easier to treat.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe strive to make breast screening easy and accessible, with sites close to where people live and a range of appointment times, including offering Saturday appointments at Nanango on September 28 and October 12, and in Kingaroy on November 2 and 30.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Women aged between 50 and 74 are strongly recommended to have a breast screen every two years, as 75 per cent of breast cancer diagnoses are in this age group.<\/p>\n

Women in their 40s and those aged over 75 are also eligible for the free service every two years.<\/p>\n

Appointments can be made by seeing a health worker, phoning 13-20-50 or by booking online<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
