September 27, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n A former South Burnett Eagles rugby league player has been jailed after being found guilty of rape during a four-day trial this week in the Kingaroy District Court.<\/p>\n Tyson Alexander Ellul, formerly of Nanango, pleaded not guilty to the charge of raping the woman after the pair had been drinking together and playing pool at a Kingaroy hotel.<\/p>\n The Crown alleged the sexual assault occurred four years ago on the bonnet of a vehicle parked in King Street.<\/p>\n The court was told the victim was too drunk to consent to the act.<\/p>\n Ellul, who now lives in Brisbane, was found guilty by a jury on Thursday.<\/p>\n On Friday, Judge Paul Smith AM sentenced Ellul, 22, to five years in prison, to be suspended after he serves 27 months.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A former South Burnett Eagles rugby league player has been jailed after being found guilty of rape during a four-day trial this week in the Kingaroy District Court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":104807,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3,24],"tags":[21,1132],"yoast_head":"\n
