Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington officially opened the new secondary precinct at St John’s Lutheran School on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

The building consists of five classrooms – catering for students in Years 10, 11 and 12 – as well as two dedicated science labs, several breakout areas and a staff room.<\/p>\n

Principal Karyn Bjelke-Petersen said construction work began in May last year, with students moving into the facility just 10 weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Mrs Bjelke-Petersen said the school funded the project through fundraising and savings as well as loans.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We have been blessed in the past to have government funding but we funded this by ourselves,” she said.<\/p>\n

The Reverend Luke Spilsbury, second Assistant Bishop (Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District) and School Council chair Warren Layt were special guests at the opening ceremony.<\/p>\n

South Burnett councillors and past School Council members were also among the invited guests, who enjoyed music provided by the school’s orchestra.<\/p>\n

There are eight students who will be graduating in St John’s first Year 12 class.<\/p>\n
