September 10, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

Local residents have been invited to attend information sessions next month about the State Government’s upcoming Burnett River and Tributaries Catchment Flood Study.<\/p>\n

The study will be carried out over the next two years by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority, in conjunction with the South Burnett, North Burnett, Cherbourg, Gympie and Bundaberg councils.<\/p>\n

Its purpose is to provide a better understanding of flood behaviour throughout the Burnett River catchment which will be used to improve flood management as well as guide infrastructure planning.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The aim is to have the study finalised and published by late 2025.<\/p>\n

Phase 1 consists of collecting data from the community.<\/p>\n

Residents have been invited to share their knowledge about floods, including photos, videos, observations about flood behaviour and newspaper clippings.<\/p>\n

These can be shared online<\/a> before October 25, 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The South Burnett information session will be held from 9:30am to 4:30pm on Thursday, October 10, at Murgon Town Hall.<\/p>\n

Gympie Regional Council residents have been invited to attend an information session on Friday, October 11, from 9:00am to noon at Goomeri Library.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
