Police have arrested a man in relation to a fatal hit-and-run at Kingaroy on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

Emergency crews were called to First Avenue about 5:00am after a black Mercedes-Benz allegedly struck a 36-year-old Kingaroy man, before the vehicle left the scene.<\/p>\n

The man was walking with another 27-year-old man when he was hit by the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old died at the scene.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old man was taken to Kingaroy Hospital as a precaution.<\/p>\n

Investigations led police to locate a Mercedes at an address on Boonenne-Ellesmere Road in Taabinga.<\/p>\n

A 30-year-old man was taken into custody.<\/p>\n

Investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information that could assist investigations has been urged to contact police.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 1:<\/b> The alleged driver has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence and failing to remain at an incident and render assistance.<\/p>\n

He is due to appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 2:<\/b> Jade Cherry did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody. No pleas have been entered.<\/p>\n

EARLIER: Police are hunting a vehicle involved in a serious hit-and-run in Kingaroy on Tuesday morning.<\/b><\/p>\n

A man walking in First Avenue was struck by an unknown vehicle about 5:00am.<\/p>\n

The vehicle did not stop.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said family members of the man were still to be contacted, so more information was not yet available but the vehicle involved in the incident was unknown.<\/p>\n

A QAS spokesperson said the critically injured man was taken to Kingaroy Hospital with life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

A section of River Road has been closed near Logan Street to allow police investigations.<\/p>\n
