Students and guests gathered at the Nurunderi TAFE campus in Cherbourg last week to mark the second birthday of the town’s Digital Service Centre.<\/p>\n

It was also an opportunity to celebrate the graduation from TAFE of the latest group of recruits for the centre.<\/p>\n

The Cherbourg Digital Service Centre is\u00a0 a joint project of Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council with Fujitsu Australia, the State Government and TAFE Queensland.<\/p>\n

The official visitors – which included representatives from Fujitsu and the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation – were welcomed with a performance by the Wakka Wakka Dancers.<\/p>\n

They also had the opportunity to tour The Ration Shed Museum and meet the staff at the Digital Service Centre.<\/p>\n

Guest speakers included Kylie Lee, from TAFE Queensland; Chris McLaren, from the State Government’s Customer and Digital Group; David Lennon, from Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand; Gil Winters, DB Results; and Lance Oswald, the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.<\/p>\n

“The day was filled with pride as we welcomed partners, dignitaries, and supporters who have stood by us,” Cherbourg Mayor Bruce Simpson said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We were honoured to share our culture through the Welcome to Country and the powerful performance by the Wakka Wakka Dancers, reminding everyone of the rich heritage that drives our future forward.<\/p>\n

“We are super proud to watch the continued growth of our Cherbourg Digital Service Centre, a big part now of our community\u2019s journey towards digital innovation and empowerment.<\/p>\n

“The graduation of these dedicated and deadly students marks a significant achievement not only for them but for all of Cherbourg.<\/p>\n

“They will be among the ones who will lead our community to a powerful, more connected future.<\/p>\n

“To our graduates, your success is a shining light of hope and progress for all of Cherbourg.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“You have shown what is possible when we invest in our mob and believe in the power of education and technology. We look forward to seeing the positive changes you will bring to our community and beyond.<\/p>\n

“This celebration is just the beginning. Together, we will continue to build on this foundation, ensuring that Cherbourg remains a leader in digital services and community empowerment.”<\/p>\n
